What it is
Extended Producer Responsibility, without the guesswork.
Extended Producer Responsibility makes producers, importers and brand owners accountable for the waste their products become, and the CPCB now runs it as a registration-and-obligation system across four separate waste regimes: plastic, e-waste, battery and tyre.
KIPL handles EPR registration and the annual returns across all four regimes, plus the environmental-compensation exposure that follows a shortfall: the compliance layer that has quietly become mandatory for a huge range of businesses that never thought of themselves as polluters.

Straight answers
Extended Producer Responsibility: the questions clients ask first.
01Who needs EPR registration?
Producers, importers and brand owners of products covered by the plastic, e-waste, battery or tyre waste rules, and the recyclers who process them. Many businesses are covered without realising it, because 'producer' and 'brand owner' are defined broadly.
02What are the four EPR regimes?
Plastic Waste (PWM Rules, EPR from 2022), E-Waste (2022), Battery Waste (2022) and used tyres. Each has its own CPCB portal, targets and returns. An obligation in one does not cover the others.
03What is environmental compensation under EPR?
A financial liability levied when a producer fails to meet its EPR targets: effectively a penalty for the unfulfilled obligation. Tracking targets through the year is how that exposure is avoided rather than discovered at return-filing.
04How often are EPR returns filed?
Annually, on the relevant CPCB portal, reconciling the obligation against the credits earned. Registration is the start; the returns are the recurring compliance that keeps it live.

Who we do this for
The same filing reads differently by industry.
What extended producer responsibility demands of a data centre is not what it demands of a distillery. These set out the item code, the conditions that bite and the evidence each sector is asked for.
