Extended Producer Responsibility consultants in Kochi.
Extended Producer Responsibility in Kochi, on the ground where the work actually is, the Eloor–Ambalamugal industrial belt, the Kakkanad IT district and the port and export trade of the backwaters, carried by one accredited team, from the first baseline to the signed-off report.

Kochi's advisory work is set out along water. North of the city, the Periyar runs past Eloor and Edayar, where fertiliser, chemical and metal units have stood on its banks for decades; to the east, the refinery and FACT's plant at Ambalamugal anchor the petrochemical belt. Kakkanad holds Infopark and the SEZ offices, and Willingdon Island, Vallarpadam and the shipyard carry the port trade. Seafood and spice exporters work from the southern and island edges. Nearly all of it sits on low ground between backwater and sea.
Kochi's EPR load sits with exporters, brands and importers. Seafood processors and spice packers use plastic films, trays and pouches, and those that sell in India under their own brand name carry packaging obligations. Importers moving goods through the port may become producers under the rules. Electronics and battery sellers carry targets of their own. In Kerala, where local bodies already run door-to-door waste collection, a brand is often asked to show both its EPR certificates and its answer to state restrictions. The team travels from its base in Navi Mumbai and stays named on the work, start to finish, not passed down a chain.

If your product becomes waste, the law now follows it there. EPR is where you account for that.
Local demand
What drives extended producer responsibility in Kochi.
The second is the coast. In January 2020, four apartment complexes at Maradu were demolished on the Supreme Court's order for breaching coastal zone rules, and every developer, buyer and lender in Kochi took note. Any property question in the city now begins with CRZ status. The 2018 floods, which closed the airport and put much of the Periyar plain under water, added another, how a building or plant handles water it cannot keep out. Export buyers of seafood and spices add a third set of questions, about waste, water and carbon.
EPR work in Kochi is pulled by the export and port trade. MPEDA and the Spices Board are headquartered in the city, and processors that pack for domestic sale under their own brand carry EPR duties on the plastic they pack in. Before listing a product, online marketplaces now want to see the seller's EPR number. Importers bringing packaged goods, electronics or batteries through Vallarpadam and Willingdon Island may carry obligations they have not yet registered.

Straight answers
Extended Producer Responsibility in Kochi: common questions.
01We export frozen seafood from Kochi. Does EPR reach us?
For packaging on goods exported and sold abroad, generally not under India's plastic rules. But if you also sell in India under your own brand, or import packaging material or packaged goods, you may carry an obligation. We read your domestic sales, imports and packaging flows against the rules before registering anything on the CPCB portal.
02Kerala already restricts single-use plastic. Does that replace EPR for our brand?
No. Kerala's restrictions decide which items may be handed out or used within Kerala. EPR is a national duty set by the Plastic Waste Management Rules, with registration and annual returns through CPCB. A brand trading in Kochi must satisfy each separately.
03How long does extended producer responsibility take in Kochi, and who is involved?
Kerala State Pollution Control Board · SEIAA Kerala · Kerala Coastal Zone Management Authority · GCDA and the Cochin Corporation · CPCB (EPR) · SEBI (BRSR) are the bodies a Kochi project works with. On timing: registration weeks; returns annual. KIPL sets out a realistic Kochi schedule once the site and the scope have been read, and carries the work through to the outcome, with comparable work on the record such as EIA for Synthetic Organic Chemical Industry.
