Extended Producer Responsibility in Bengaluru, on the ground where the work actually is, the Outer Ring Road campuses, the Whitefield–Electronic City tech belt and the industrial estates beyond them, carried by one accredited team, from the first baseline to the signed-off report.
Why Bengaluru
The local ground extended producer responsibility sits on.

- Producers, importers, brand owners & recyclers
Bengaluru's advisory work sits mostly inside offices, not behind chimneys. The Outer Ring Road, Whitefield, Electronic City and Sarjapur Road hold one of the country's largest clusters of IT campuses and global capability centres, while Peenya, Bommasandra and the Devanahalli belt carry the manufacturing. The questions change with the address: a green rating a tenant will sign for, a disclosure a parent company abroad will read, a KSPCB consent that has to stay current. Behind each sits the same need: a record someone can check.
Bengaluru is home to a great many consumer-internet, electronics and direct-to-consumer brands, and a good number are producers or brand owners under EPR without having thought of themselves that way. An online seller shipping in plastic, a hardware firm importing laptops, a device maker whose products carry batteries: each holds a separate obligation on the CPCB portal, under the plastic, e-waste or battery rules. Karnataka's 2016 notification on single-use plastic sits alongside. The work starts with an honest list of what each product becomes once it is thrown away. The team travels from its base in Navi Mumbai and stays named on the work, start to finish, not passed down a chain.

If your product becomes waste, the law now follows it there. EPR is where you account for that.
Local demand
What drives extended producer responsibility in Bengaluru.
Much of the demand here arrives through the lease and the annual report. Occupiers on the Outer Ring Road and in Whitefield increasingly ask for an IGBC or LEED rating before they sign, and large campuses often cross the 20,000 sq m built-up threshold that brings environment clearance through SEIAA Karnataka. Listed companies file BRSR under SEBI's mandate, and global capability centres feed their parents' disclosures abroad. Both push the question of data down to landlords and vendors: energy, water and waste, measured the same way each year. The work is less a single approval than a record that stays true across a building's working life.
Many producers here are young companies registered in Karnataka and selling across the country. EPR attaches to what they place on the market, not to where the factory is: and the obligation often surfaces only when a marketplace, distributor or investor asks for the registration number. Funding rounds and acquisitions now check EPR status as part of diligence. Contract manufacturers in Peenya and Bommasandra who pack for several brands face a further question: who, in law, is the producer of each pack.

Straight answers
Extended Producer Responsibility in Bengaluru: common questions.
01We are a Bengaluru brand, and a contract manufacturer packs our product. Who holds the EPR obligation?
Usually the brand owner: the company whose name is on the pack. The rules define producer, importer and brand owner separately, though, and the answer turns on who introduces the packaging or product to the market. The contract with the packer in Peenya or Bommasandra should say so plainly. Registration then runs on the CPCB portal, with annual targets met through registered processors.
02Karnataka already bans many single-use plastics. Does that change our EPR obligation?
No, the two run side by side. Karnataka's 2016 notification on single-use plastic still governs what can be sold and used in the state. EPR is a separate, national obligation under the Plastic Waste Management Rules, registered and filed on the CPCB portal. A brand owner selling in Bengaluru answers to both, and meeting one does not discharge the other.
03How long does extended producer responsibility take in Bengaluru, and who is involved?
KSPCB · SEIAA Karnataka · CPCB (EPR) · SEBI (BRSR) are the bodies a Bengaluru project works with. On timing: registration weeks; returns annual. KIPL sets out a realistic Bengaluru schedule once the site and the scope have been read, and carries the work through to the outcome, with comparable work on the record such as EIA for Synthetic Organic Chemical Industry.
