Extended Producer Responsibility in Vasai-Virar, on the ground where the work actually is, the Waliv, Gokhivare and Sativali industrial estates and the housing spreading out from Vasai, Nalasopara and Virar stations, carried by one accredited team, from the first baseline to the signed-off report.

- Producers, importers, brand owners & recyclers
Vasai-Virar grew quickly, and much of it grew at once. East of the railway, the Waliv, Gokhivare and Sativali estates hold a dense mix of small units (plastics, packaging, engineering) many in galas that have changed hands more than once. West and north, layouts in Nalasopara, Virar and Naigaon have turned salt pans and paddy into housing. Compliance work here follows both: consents and returns that busy owners lose track of, and clearance conditions that outlast the builder who accepted them.
Vasai East holds many of the businesses EPR was written for: plastic moulders, packaging converters and small brands in Waliv, Gokhivare and Sativali, and traders who import and relabel goods. Some are producers under the plastic packaging rules, some are brand owners, and some only process material for others. We trace each product and packaging flow, register only where an obligation exists, and file the annual return against certificates from registered processors, so the numbers hold when CPCB checks them. The work is carried from our base in the region by named people, start to finish, not passed down a chain.

If your product becomes waste, the law now follows it there. EPR is where you account for that.
Local demand
What drives extended producer responsibility in Vasai-Virar.
Most of the city's industry is small. A unit in Waliv or Sativali may employ twenty people, run on a consent obtained years ago and have no one whose job is the environment. The obligations still arrive on time (consent renewal, a hazardous-waste authorisation where the process needs one, the annual environmental statement) and MPCB's online system shows a lapse as soon as it happens. Galas here are often rented, sublet or resold with their machinery, so papers drift away from the person actually running the process. Plastics converters now also meet EPR questions from the brands they pack for.
EPR arrived in Vasai East through the supply chain. Brand owners who must meet recycling targets under the plastic packaging rules now ask their converters for invoices, data and registration numbers, and a small moulder in Waliv can lose an order without them. The same rules bring recyclers and processors into the system, because only registered processors can issue the certificates brands need. Some units here reprocess plastic scrap, which puts them on the other side of the market: they register to issue certificates, not to buy them.

Straight answers
Extended Producer Responsibility in Vasai-Virar: common questions.
01We reprocess plastic scrap in Vasai East. Do we need to register with CPCB?
If you want to issue EPR certificates to brands, yes: as a plastic waste processor on CPCB's portal, alongside your MPCB consent. Registration lets you record what you process and issue certificates against it. We check that your consent covers recycling, set up the portal account, and help you keep the processing records that auditors ask to see.
02We make plastic packaging in Vasai East and sell it to other companies. Are we a producer under EPR?
Possibly, and in more than one role. A unit that makes plastic packaging and supplies it to brands can be a producer under CPCB's plastic packaging rules. If you also sell goods under your own name, you may be a brand owner too. The answer turns on who you sell to and whose name is on the pack, so we map each flow before anything is registered.
03How long does extended producer responsibility take in Vasai-Virar, and who is involved?
MPCB · VVCMC · SEIAA Maharashtra · CPCB (EPR) are the bodies a Vasai-Virar project works with. On timing: registration weeks; returns annual. KIPL sets out a realistic Vasai-Virar schedule once the site and the scope have been read, and carries the work through to the outcome, with comparable work on the record such as EIA for Synthetic Organic Chemical Industry.
