Extended Producer Responsibility in Pune, on the ground where the work actually is, the Hinjawadi and Kharadi office belts and the Chakan–Ranjangaon supplier plants, carried by one accredited team, from the first baseline to the signed-off report.

Pune's advisory work runs along two lines that meet. One is the office economy: the IT campuses of Hinjawadi and Kharadi, Magarpatta and the business parks of Viman Nagar, occupied by firms that answer to global owners and listed parents. The other is the plant floor: auto, engineering and component makers across Chakan, Talegaon, Ranjangaon and Bhosari, most of them suppliers to someone who now asks for evidence. Between them sit the townships of the city's edge, built to rating systems and bound by clearance conditions that outlast the handover.
Pune's EPR load sits mostly with makers. Automotive and two-wheeler companies around Pimpri-Chinchwad and Chakan place batteries and tyres on the market, and the growing electric-vehicle supply chain brings the battery regime into sharper view. Food, pharmaceutical and consumer brands packed in the region carry plastic packaging obligations, and electronics assemblers carry e-waste targets. Each regime has its own CPCB portal registration, its own annual return and its own certificates to secure from registered recyclers. A single plant can sit under three of them at once. The work is carried from our base in the region by named people, start to finish, not passed down a chain.

If your product becomes waste, the law now follows it there. EPR is where you account for that.
Local demand
What drives extended producer responsibility in Pune.
The first driver is the supply chain. Pune's manufacturing base is built in tiers: a vehicle maker at the top, component and casting plants below it, smaller job shops below them. As SEBI's BRSR framework asks listed companies about their value chain, the question travels down. A Chakan supplier that has never produced an emissions figure is now asked for one, alongside its MPCB consent status and its waste returns. The same plants carry EPR obligations for the packaging, batteries and tyres they place on the market. For many of them, this is the first time environmental data has been a condition of keeping a customer.
Three sets of rules drive EPR work in Pune. The Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 reach every maker and importer placing batteries on the market, and the region's electric two- and three-wheeler makers carry large battery volumes. The plastic packaging rules bind its food and consumer brands. The E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 reach the appliance and electronics makers at Ranjangaon and Chakan. Many firms here also import components: and an importer carries the obligation even without a factory.

Straight answers
Extended Producer Responsibility in Pune: common questions.
01We make components in Chakan and sell them to an automaker. Is EPR our obligation or theirs?
It usually sits with the brand that places the product on the market, or with the importer. A component fitted into a vehicle is typically covered by the vehicle maker's obligation. But if your unit sells batteries, tyres or packaged goods under its own name in the aftermarket, or imports, it may carry its own. We read your sales channels against each set of rules before registering anything.
02We supply a listed automaker from Chakan. Do we have to report under BRSR?
Not directly, BRSR is a SEBI requirement on listed companies. But a listed customer reporting on its value chain will ask its key suppliers for the underlying data: energy, water, emissions, waste and consent status. We help suppliers build that data once, in a form that answers the customer's questionnaire and holds up if it is checked.
03How long does extended producer responsibility take in Pune, and who is involved?
MPCB Pune regional office · SEBI (BRSR) · CPCB (EPR) · SEIAA Maharashtra are the bodies a Pune project works with. On timing: registration weeks; returns annual. KIPL sets out a realistic Pune schedule once the site and the scope have been read, and carries the work through to the outcome, with comparable work on the record such as EIA for Synthetic Organic Chemical Industry.
