Extended Producer Responsibility in Madhya Pradesh, on the ground where the work actually is, Singrauli's pits and power stations, the factory estates from Pithampur to Malanpur, and the limestone country of Satna and Katni, carried by one accredited team, from the first baseline to the signed-off report.

Advisory work in Madhya Pradesh spans a state where industry sits in pockets among forest and farmland. Singrauli in the east holds open-cast coal mines and thermal power stations that light much of northern India. Cement plants cluster around Satna, Katni and Damoh on the Vindhyan limestone. Mandideep, just outside Bhopal, holds textile, food and engineering units; Pithampur holds vehicle and pharmaceutical makers; Jabalpur has ordnance factories and a growing industrial area; Gwalior and Malanpur hold older plants in the north. Between these pockets stretch whole districts that are mostly forest, with barely a chimney in them.

EPR in Madhya Pradesh reaches food processors, vehicle and component makers and a wide trading economy. Soybean oil mills, flour and dal packers, snack and dairy brands ship in plastic to every corner of India. Vehicle plants and dealers in tyres and batteries fall under those two regimes. Appliance and electronics makers in the industrial areas carry e-waste targets. An importer is liable though it makes nothing here. Every regime asks for a separate enrolment, yearly return and set of certificates. The team travels from its base in Navi Mumbai and stays named on the work, start to finish, not passed down a chain.

If your product becomes waste, the law now follows it there. EPR is where you account for that.

Local demand

What drives extended producer responsibility in Madhya Pradesh.

The state's manufacturing push drives the second. Madhya Pradesh has courted investment with land in its industrial areas, food processing parks and new corridors, and plants at Pithampur, Mandideep and Jabalpur sell to listed and overseas buyers that want figures for BRSR or for their own codes. Bhopal's history keeps questions of hazardous waste and chemical safety close to the surface, in 2025 the waste long stored at the Union Carbide site was taken to Pithampur for incineration, under court supervision and with residents watching closely. Firms handling chemicals in the state work with that memory in the room.

Agri-processing and new factories widen EPR's reach in Madhya Pradesh. Oilseed and grain processors pack for supermarkets across India; vehicle makers and dealers sell batteries and tyres; appliance lines owe e-waste quotas. A national retailer's vendor form is often the first a firm hears of its duty. Importers owe a share as well.

Straight answers

Extended Producer Responsibility in Madhya Pradesh: common questions.

01We process soybean oil in Madhya Pradesh and sell it in plastic pouches. Are we a brand owner under EPR?

If the pouch bears your name, almost certainly. The duty is split by plastic category, multilayer pouches count separately from rigid bottles, and discharged yearly through certificates bought from registered recyclers. We list each pack and its tonnage, enrol you on CPCB's portal and handle each year's filing.

02Does a power plant in Singrauli have to use all its fly ash?

The central fly ash notification requires thermal plants to use their ash in cement, bricks, roads, mine filling and other approved uses, with targets and timelines, and legacy ash in ponds must be used over time as well. Plants report their utilisation, and shortfalls attract penalties. We help plants map their ash streams against the targets and document each use.

03How long does extended producer responsibility take in Madhya Pradesh, and who is involved?

MPPCB · SEIAA Madhya Pradesh · MPIDC · Forest Department (forest diversion) · CPCB (EPR) · SEBI (BRSR) are the bodies a Madhya Pradesh project works with. On timing: registration weeks; returns annual. KIPL sets out a realistic Madhya Pradesh schedule once the site and the scope have been read, and carries the work through to the outcome, with comparable work on the record such as EIA for Synthetic Organic Chemical Industry.
