Tree Management in Kalyan-Dombivli, on the ground where the work actually is, the Ulhas creek mangroves, the Titwala fringe and the townships along the Kalyan-Shil road, with one team on it from the site survey until the survival data says it took.
Why Kalyan-Dombivli
The local ground tree management sits on.

Kalyan-Dombivli's green runs along its water. The Ulhas bends past Kalyan's Durgadi fort and widens into a creek lined with mangroves west of Dombivli, and the Waldhuni joins it at Kalyan. To the north, towards Titwala and the Kalu river, farmland and low hills still hold open ground. Between these edges lie a dense old railway town and a chemical estate with little canopy of its own. Green work here means shade for crowded wards, buffers around industry, and planting that suits the new townships.
Tree work in Kalyan-Dombivli goes through the KDMC Tree Authority under the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Protection and Preservation of Trees Act, 1975. Society redevelopment in older Dombivli, metro works on the Kalyan alignments, road widening and new layouts all meet mature trees: peepal, banyan, mango and rain trees among them. We number, measure and identify each one, prepare the application, and assess plainly which trees will survive a move. Transplanted trees are watered and checked until the survival condition is met. The work is carried from our base in the region by named people, start to finish, not passed down a chain.

Local demand
What drives tree management in Kalyan-Dombivli.
Construction is the first driver. Metro Lines 5 and 12, road widening across the city, and new layouts around Kalyan West and Titwala all meet trees that cannot be removed without the KDMC Tree Authority's permission under the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Protection and Preservation of Trees Act, 1975. That permission brings enumeration, compensatory planting and, where a tree can be moved, transplantation. Large layouts carry green-cover conditions from their clearances as well. The work has to satisfy the authority and then survive a Konkan monsoon followed by months of dry heat.
Much of Kalyan-Dombivli's new building land was farmland within living memory. Layouts around Titwala and along the Kalyan-Shil road inherit mango, tamarind and banyan trees along old field boundaries, and those trees fall under the KDMC Tree Authority like any other in the city. Metro piers and road widening add public trees to the same queue. Some of the older trees may qualify as heritage trees, which carry heavier compensatory planting, so measuring and dating each tree accurately has become the first step.

Straight answers
Tree Management in Kalyan-Dombivli: common questions.
01Our new layout near Titwala has an old mango grove. Can we keep some of it?
Often more than a first plan suggests. Mature mango and tamarind trees can anchor the layout's open space, parking can be shifted away from their roots, and a grove gives residents a garden that looks established on the day they move in. We survey the grove early, mark the trees worth keeping, and work them into the plan before the Tree Authority application.
02Do we need KDMC's permission to remove a tree on our own plot?
Yes. Owning the land does not include the right to fell or transplant a tree on it. Under the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Protection and Preservation of Trees Act, 1975, the KDMC Tree Authority decides, usually with compensatory planting as a condition. We enumerate the trees, prepare the application, and plan any transplanting with survival checks afterwards.
03How long does tree management take in Kalyan-Dombivli, and who is involved?
KDMC Tree Authority · KDMC Garden Department · Maharashtra Forest Department (Mangrove Cell) · MPCB Kalyan are the bodies a Kalyan-Dombivli project works with. On timing: census in weeks; NOC by Tree Authority calendar. KIPL sets out a realistic Kalyan-Dombivli schedule once the site and the scope have been read, and carries the work through to the outcome, with comparable work on the record such as MCGM GARDEN DEVELOPMENT- MIYAWAKI PLANTATION.
