Farmland sold for housing around Titwala often carries old mango, jamun and tamarind trees along field boundaries and near former farmhouses. They are protected once the land falls within municipal limits, and felling any of them requires the Tree Authority's approval. We record and assess every tree at the concept stage, so buildings and roads can be placed around the healthiest ones, and prepare the permission and compensatory planting for the rest.
Titwala lies at the northern edge of KDMC, a few stations beyond Kalyan on the line towards Kasara. It is best known for its Mahaganpati temple, which draws visitors from across the region, and the town grew up around the temple and the station. The Kalu river, a tributary of the Ulhas, runs close by, and paddy fields, low hills and small villages still surround the town. Over the past two decades that farmland has been sold for affordable housing, and mid-rise layouts now stand among fields. Families come here for the price of a flat and commute long hours to work.

Tree Management in Titwala: common questions.
01Our land was farmland until last year. Do the tree rules really apply?
If the land is within KDMC limits, yes. Trees on private land in a municipal area are protected whether or not the land was farmed. Felling without it invites penalties and can hold up plan approval. We carry out the tree survey and file the application before any clearing.
02How long does tree management take in Titwala?
On timing: census in weeks; NOC by Tree Authority calendar. A realistic Titwala schedule is set once the site and the scope have been read, and the work is carried through to the outcome by the same named people.
