Public Gardens & Biodiversity Parks in Vasai-Virar, on the ground where the work actually is, the Tungareshwar forest, the coconut and banana wadis of the western villages and the creek and salt-pan edges, with one team on it from the site survey until the survival data says it took.

Vasai-Virar still holds a great deal of green, though it is changing fast. To the east, the Tungareshwar hills are a wildlife sanctuary. To the west, villages such as Papdy, Nirmal and Bolinj keep their coconut and banana wadis and old wells. Along the creek run mangroves and salt pans. Between them, Nalasopara, Virar and Naigaon have filled with housing that has little shade of its own. Green work here means protecting what remains and planting where the new city left none: for the families now living in it.
Vasai-Virar's newer wards grew with few public gardens, and the ones that exist carry heavy evening use from families in the dense housing around them. Older open spaces sit around village tanks and in temple and church grounds. We plan gardens for how they will be used (paths, shade, play, seating) build them to drain after a heavy spell, and set up maintenance that a municipal ward or a township can afford, so the garden still works for its neighbours in its third summer. The work is carried from our base in the region by named people, start to finish, not passed down a chain.

The failure mode of a public garden isn't the opening. It's the second summer.
Local demand
What drives public gardens & biodiversity parks in Vasai-Virar.
The second driver is water. Recent monsoons have flooded parts of Nalasopara and Vasai, and residents and planners now look at green space as ground that holds rain rather than sheds it. At the same time the older landscape (the wadis, village tanks and mangrove fringes) is under pressure from building, and villagers, parishes, temple trusts and schools want it kept. Municipal, CSR and township programmes increasingly ask for native planting, gardens that absorb water, and green that someone nearby will still be looking after in five years.
Much of Vasai-Virar's open space comes from layouts, which must set aside recreational ground under the development rules. Too often it is left as bare earth or a lawn nobody uses, then handed to a society or the corporation to manage. Families in compact flats need that space: for children to play, older residents to walk, and shade in May. The demand is for small gardens designed around real use and a modest upkeep budget, and for older municipal gardens brought back into use.

Straight answers
Public Gardens & Biodiversity Parks in Vasai-Virar: common questions.
01Can one small garden in our Nalasopara layout serve both children and older residents?
Yes, and on a small plot it has to. We separate a play area with soft surfacing from a shaded walking loop, put seating where older people can watch, and keep sight lines open so the space feels safe in the evening. Lighting and drinking water decide how much the garden is actually used, so they are planned from the start.
02Do the fruit trees on our Vasai plot need Tree Authority permission?
Yes. Within VVCMC limits the Trees Act covers mango, jackfruit and other fruit trees as much as any other, and felling without permission carries penalties. We number and measure every tree, prepare the application, and assess which can be transplanted. Old mango trees are often worth designing around: they give more shade than anything planted to replace them.
03How long does public gardens & biodiversity parks take in Vasai-Virar, and who is involved?
VVCMC Tree Authority · VVCMC Garden Department · Maharashtra Forest Department · Mangrove Cell are the bodies a Vasai-Virar project works with. On timing: design to commissioning by scope; maintenance ongoing. KIPL sets out a realistic Vasai-Virar schedule once the site and the scope have been read, and carries the work through to the outcome, with comparable work on the record such as MCGM GARDEN DEVELOPMENT- MIYAWAKI PLANTATION.
