Kharghar was planned by CIDCO and now falls within the Panvel Municipal Corporation, formed in 2016, which has taken over civic services from CIDCO in stages. Its compliance work follows its buildings. Dense housing sectors run from the Sion–Panvel highway up towards the hills, with hospitals and campuses such as ACTREC and NIFT among them. To the east lies the Taloja industrial area. A society running its own sewage plant, a hospital handling biomedical waste and a college preparing for accreditation each hold duties that outlast the building's approvals.

Kharghar's ESG work gathers around three kinds of organisation: developers building in the upper sectors, hospitals and research institutions answering to trustees and funders, and Taloja-side manufacturers supplying listed customers. For a hospital, electricity for cooling and diesel backup dominate the footprint, with biomedical waste close behind. For a developer, it is the materials and energy that go into each tower. We set the boundary, draw the data from bills, meters and waste records, and prepare the disclosure the reader has actually asked for. The work is carried from our base in the region by named people, start to finish, not passed down a chain.

The disclosure mandate starts at the top of the pyramid. The data demand runs all the way down it.

Local demand

What drives esg advisory & reporting in Kharghar.

The second driver is the institutions and their neighbour. Kharghar holds engineering, management, design and medical campuses, and NAAC's accreditation framework asks colleges to show green, energy and environment audits, so audit work arrives on an academic calendar. Hospitals and research centres face similar questions from boards and funders. The Taloja industrial area shapes the rest. Its chemical and pharmaceutical units carry consents, hazardous-waste returns and EPR obligations, and residents of the eastern sectors have long complained about the air that drifts across. Both sides of that boundary now want evidence rather than assurances.

Kharghar's hospitals and research institutions increasingly report to boards, trusts and grant-makers that expect sustainability figures alongside clinical ones. Healthcare is energy-heavy (cooling, sterilisation, imaging and backup power run day and night) and the numbers are large enough to matter. Developers building here are asked by lenders and institutional investors for project-level data. Taloja suppliers keep receiving questionnaires from listed customers. Each needs figures that the people already on site can collect again next year.

Straight answers

ESG Advisory & Reporting in Kharghar: common questions.

01We run a hospital in Kharghar. What does a carbon footprint include for us?

Scope 1 covers diesel for generators, fuel for boilers and kitchens, and refrigerant and anaesthetic gases released on site. Scope 2 is purchased electricity. Scope 3 reaches into medicines, supplies and waste treatment, and is usually estimated. We start with Scopes 1 and 2 from your bills and logs, then build the Scope 3 estimate in steps you can defend.

02Our Kharghar college needs a green audit for NAAC. What does it involve?

A close look at how the campus uses energy, water and paper, how it handles waste, including laboratory chemicals and e-waste. And how much of it is green. NAAC looks for the audit report and for evidence that its findings were acted on. We carry out the audit, write it in the form assessors expect, and list changes the campus can make before its next cycle.

03How long does esg advisory & reporting take in Kharghar, and who is involved?

MPCB · SEIAA Maharashtra · CPCB (EPR) · Panvel Municipal Corporation · CIDCO are the bodies a Kharghar project works with. On timing: reporting-cycle driven; strategy ongoing. KIPL sets out a realistic Kharghar schedule once the site and the scope have been read, and carries the work through to the outcome, with comparable work on the record such as SHENDRA AND BIDKIN INDUSTRIAL AREA, AURANGABAD.
