ESG Advisory & Reporting in Chennai, on the ground where the work actually is, the Sriperumbudur–Oragadam auto corridor, the OMR office belt and the Manali–Ennore refinery coast, carried by one accredited team, from the first baseline to the signed-off report.

Why Chennai

The local ground esg advisory & reporting sits on.

Decided with
TNPCB · SEIAA Tamil Nadu · CPCB (EPR) · SEBI (BRSR) · CMDA
Local ground
Sriperumbudur, Irungattukottai and Oragadam in the western SIPCOT belt, the Taramani–Siruseri stretch of the OMR, and the Manali, Ennore and Gummidipoondi industrial coast
Typically for
Listed companies and their supply-chain vendors

Chennai's advisory ground falls into three belts that barely touch. West of the city, along the Bengaluru highway, the SIPCOT estates at Sriperumbudur, Irungattukottai and Oragadam hold vehicle plants, tyre makers and the phone and electronics assemblers that grew up around them. South, the IT Expressway on Rajiv Gandhi Salai, the OMR: carries office parks from Taramani to Siruseri. North, Manali and Ennore hold a refinery, fertiliser works, petrochemical units, power stations and two ports. Each belt answers to TNPCB, and each is questioned differently by the people it sells to.

Two kinds of reporter share Chennai. The OMR and Guindy house global capability centres, banks' back offices and software firms whose parents abroad collect their energy and emissions figures. The western corridor houses exporters (carmakers, component firms, electronics assemblers) whose buyers want supplier-level carbon data, some of it for European rules. A family-owned die-caster in Oragadam may meet both kinds of ask in one quarter. The inventory we build starts from the plant's electricity bills and fuel records and is mapped to each format from there. The team travels from its base in Navi Mumbai and stays named on the work, start to finish, not passed down a chain.

ESG Advisory & Reporting · Chennai

The disclosure mandate starts at the top of the pyramid. The data demand runs all the way down it.

Local demand

What drives esg advisory & reporting in Chennai.

Exports set much of the pace. Cars shipped from Chennai's port, components sent to makers abroad and devices assembled for global brands all travel with buyers' questionnaires attached: asking about electricity, water, waste and, more recently, carbon. SEBI's BRSR framework draws listed carmakers and tier-one suppliers into value-chain reporting, and the request passes to the smaller press shops and moulders in Ambattur, Thirumazhisai and the Kancheepuram estates. Many of those units hold a TNPCB consent and little else in writing. They are now asked for numbers that a buyer's auditor is going to test.

Chennai's exporters are meeting carbon questions earlier than most. Europe's carbon border levy, CBAM, now reaches steel and aluminium, and forging, casting and fastener suppliers in the corridor feed those chains. Global carmakers and electronics brands set supplier emissions targets and ask for annual figures. In the south, capability centres on the OMR feed parent disclosures written for foreign regulators. The shared need is a single GHG Protocol inventory that each customer and each report can draw from without contradiction.

Straight answers

ESG Advisory & Reporting in Chennai: common questions.

01Our factory buys power from TANGEDCO and runs diesel sets during outages. How is that counted?

Grid electricity counts as indirect, Scope 2 emissions, using the grid emission factor for the year. Diesel burned in your own generator is direct, Scope 1. Both come straight from bills and fuel logs. Renewable power bought through open access or made on a rooftop plant is recorded separately. We document each source and factor, so anyone can trace the figure back.

02Our plant in Oragadam supplies a listed carmaker. What environmental data will the customer ask for?

Mostly a familiar list: power and fuel consumed, water taken in and let out, waste by type and its destination, and whether the TNPCB consent is in date. Some customers add a first carbon figure. We draw these from the plant's own bills, registers and returns and keep the working, so next year's answer matches this year's and holds up when the customer checks.

03How long does esg advisory & reporting take in Chennai, and who is involved?

TNPCB · SEIAA Tamil Nadu · CPCB (EPR) · SEBI (BRSR) · CMDA are the bodies a Chennai project works with. On timing: reporting-cycle driven; strategy ongoing. KIPL sets out a realistic Chennai schedule once the site and the scope have been read, and carries the work through to the outcome, with comparable work on the record such as SHENDRA AND BIDKIN INDUSTRIAL AREA, AURANGABAD.
