Dronagiri is CIDCO's node south of the port, named after the hill that rises within it. It was planned for both industry and housing, and its logistics side has grown fastest: container freight stations, warehouses and truck yards serve the port next door. Residential sectors are filling in more slowly. Much of the node was built on low land reclaimed from creek, salt pan and mudflat, and wetlands at its edges fill with migratory birds in winter. Container trucks bound for the port crowd the node's roads at every hour.
Dronagiri's questions come from filling low coastal land for freight and housing. Reclamation near mangroves and wetlands is contested, and what counts as protected is often in dispute. Container yards cover large areas with hardstanding and send oily, silty runoff towards the creeks. Truck traffic brings dust and diesel close to the new housing. And the node needs sewage, waste and drainage systems that work on flat, low land that waterlogs after a heavy downpour.

01Our Dronagiri plot was allotted by CIDCO. Does it still need a CRZ check?
Yes. Allotment by the planning authority does not settle coastal status. If the zone map places it within CRZ, the coastal permissions still apply, and mangroves on or near it bring their own limits. We confirm its status from the map and a site survey before design begins.
02Chemicals used to be stored in a Dronagiri warehouse we may lease. What should be inspected?
The floor and drains in storage areas, any bunded areas, the drain outlets and the soil beside them, and the records of what was stored. Staining, damaged bunds and missing records are warning signs. We inspect and sample where needed before you sign.
03Does rainwater from our container yard need treatment?
The first flush usually does, because it carries oil and grit from the paving. Oil-water separators and silt traps on the yard drains handle most of it. Clean roof water can go to harvesting. We check the drainage layout and size the separators for the yard's area.
04Birds gather on water near our Dronagiri plot every winter. Does that restrict what we can build?
It may. If the water body is a recorded wetland, filling or building on it is likely to be restricted, and activity close to it may face conditions. Bird use also draws attention from residents and the courts. We check the records and advise on setbacks and permissions before design.
05Our CFS in Dronagiri washes and repairs containers. Does that need consent?
Generally yes. Container washing produces wastewater with residues from past cargo, and repair involves cutting, welding and painting. Both bring the facility onto MPCB's list. The wash water usually needs treatment. We check the activities and file the consent with a treatment plan.
