Environment Management & Mitigation Plan in Rajasthan, on the ground where the work actually is, the marble, stone and mineral belts, the textile dyeing towns of Marwar, the NCR-edge estates at Bhiwadi and Neemrana, and the desert's photovoltaic fields, carried by one accredited team, from the first baseline to the signed-off report.

Why Rajasthan

The local ground environment management & mitigation plan sits on.

The Pali, Balotra and Jodhpur textile clusters, the Kishangarh and Makrana marble belt, the Bhiwadi–Neemrana estates and the solar and oil districts of the west

Any project with EC or consent EMP conditions

In Rajasthan, advisory work covers a vast and very dry map. Mines and quarries run along the Aravalli from Udaipur and Rajsamand up through Bhilwara and Alwar, with marble processing at Kishangarh and Makrana and cement plants around Chittorgarh. Pali, Balotra and Jodhpur, towns that dye and print cloth, sit on seasonal rivers that cannot absorb their effluent. Near the Haryana border, two estates hold factories that serve the National Capital Region and Japanese investors. And out past Jodhpur, photovoltaic fields, oil wells and a new refinery are bringing heavy industry to the desert.

Rajasthan's EMPs are written against dust, heat and a meagre water ration. Sandy soils and strong pre-monsoon winds carry dust from every excavation, while every litre used for suppression must be accounted for in a dry district. Desert projects cross grazing land and orans; Aravalli projects meet slopes, forest boundaries and wildlife. Canals, highways and power lines run through all three terrains in turn. A workable plan gives each risk an owner on site and logs where every tanker of water came from. The team travels from its base in Navi Mumbai and stays named on the work, start to finish, not passed down a chain.

Local demand

What drives environment management & mitigation plan in Rajasthan.

The first driver is effluent in a land without dilution. Rivers such as the Bandi, Jojari and Luni flow only in the monsoon, so what the dyeing and printing units discharge in the dry months stays on the ground or seeps into it. The NGT has pressed these clusters for years, and common effluent treatment plants and zero-liquid-discharge expectations have followed. Marble slurry, mine waste and fly ash from power plants raise the same question in solid form. RSPCB consents in these sectors carry heavy conditions, and inspections have closed units that could not meet them.

Large projects across the desert and the Aravalli drive EMP work in Rajasthan. Solar parks, transmission lines, highways, canals, refinery works and mines each carry environmental conditions and, where lenders are involved, safeguard plans. Townships in fast-growing district towns hold clearances that set dust and water terms. The recurring risks are dust, water sourcing, disturbance of grazing land and wildlife: and, near the Aravalli, slope and forest boundaries.

Straight answers

Environment Management & Mitigation Plan in Rajasthan: common questions.

01Our power line runs through bustard country near Pokaran. What goes into its management plan?

Measures that follow the Supreme Court's directions and the guidance of the wildlife authorities: undergrounding or rerouting where required, bird diverters where overhead lines are permitted, construction timing that avoids breeding seasons, and monitoring of collisions. The plan also covers dust, water and labour camps. The bird conditions sit at the heart of that plan, not in an annex.

02Our fund is backing photovoltaic capacity near Jaisalmer. What will the diligence examine?

Land and its history: common grazing land, orans and any claims on it; water for construction and panel cleaning; the risk to birds from transmission lines, especially where the great Indian bustard is present; and labour and community conditions during construction. Lenders usually frame this against IFC standards or their in-house safeguards. We plan the review around the lender's framework and the site's real risks.

03How long does environment management & mitigation plan take in Rajasthan, and who is involved?

RSPCB · SEIAA Rajasthan · RIICO · Mines and Geology Department · CPCB (EPR) · SEBI (BRSR) are the bodies a Rajasthan project works with. On timing: prepared at EIA; implemented for project life. KIPL sets out a realistic Rajasthan schedule once the site and the scope have been read, and carries the work through to the outcome, with comparable work on the record such as EIA for Synthetic Organic Chemical Industry.
