Ulwe is one of CIDCO's newest nodes, built on low land at Navi Mumbai's southern edge beside the new international airport. Paddy, salt pans and creek-side wetland once covered much of it, and preparing the airport site meant diverting the Ulwe river and cutting down a hill. Rows of residential towers now stand in its sectors, with many more under construction, and the sea link from Sewri comes ashore close by. Schools, shops and clinics are still arriving behind the residents. Flat, bare of old trees and half-built, it is filling up year by year.
Ulwe is a town being built fast on low, reclaimed ground between an airport and the sea. Much of that ground was wetland a generation ago. Drainage and monsoon flooding are real worries. Plots near the creeks and mangroves meet the coastal rules. Dust and construction traffic reach families already living in finished towers. And every new building must look after its own sewage and garbage while the node's public systems are still being built out.

01Does being close to the airport change our environment clearance?
Not directly, since the clearance covers the project's own impacts. But the height limits set around the airport can change the design, and aircraft noise may shape the noise study. We keep the environmental file in step with the airport-related approvals, so it describes the building that will actually be built.
02Families in the finished tower next door complain about our site's dust. What should we do?
Wet the haul roads and stockpiles, cover trucks and stored sand, raise screens along the shared boundary, and move the dustiest work away from early morning and evening. Monitoring then shows residents and the regulator that the measures work. We review the site, set up these controls and keep the record.
03Can a Miyawaki patch take root on Ulwe's reclaimed fill?
It can, after the fill is conditioned. Fill of this kind tends to be packed hard, short of humus and at times saline. We test it, dig in compost and break it up before planting, and choose local species able to live with what remains.
04Two-thirds of the flats in our Ulwe tower are still empty. What should change in how the STP runs?
Run it for the load it actually receives, not its design load. Intermittent aeration, a lower sludge-wasting rate and running just one of several streams keep the biology alive. We set an operating routine for today's occupancy and adjust it as flats fill.
05CIDCO allotted our Ulwe plot. Doesn't that settle the CRZ question?
No. Allotment by CIDCO does not decide whether the coastal rules apply. That turns on the plot's classification in the CZMP and its distance from recorded mangroves. We check both and tell you plainly.
