Building in Ulwe means working on low ground, next to occupied towers, through a heavy monsoon. Silty runoff floods roads and chokes the node's new drains, dust drifts into flats already lived in, and pumped water can find its way to the creeks. The EMP must hold all of this in check on a tight site. We draft it plot by plot, set simple daily checks for dust, runoff and dewatering, and give each check an owner by name.
Ulwe is one of CIDCO's newest nodes, built on low land at Navi Mumbai's southern edge beside the new international airport. Paddy, salt pans and creek-side wetland once covered much of it, and preparing the airport site meant diverting the Ulwe river and cutting down a hill. Rows of residential towers now stand in its sectors, with many more under construction, and the sea link from Sewri comes ashore close by. Schools, shops and clinics are still arriving behind the residents. Flat, bare of old trees and half-built, it is filling up year by year.

Environment Management & Mitigation Plan in Ulwe: common questions.
01Families in the finished tower next door complain about our site's dust. What should we do?
Wet the haul roads and stockpiles, cover trucks and stored sand, raise screens along the shared boundary, and move the dustiest work away from early morning and evening. Monitoring then shows residents and the regulator that the measures work. We review the site, set up these controls and keep the record.
02How long does environment management & mitigation plan take in Ulwe?
On timing: prepared at EIA; implemented for project life. A realistic Ulwe schedule is set once the site and the scope have been read, and the work is carried through to the outcome by the same named people.
