EC Validity and Extension: keeping a clearance live through the project.
An Environment Clearance is granted for a defined validity period: and a project that outruns it needs an extension, secured before the clearance lapses.
What it is
A granted EC is valid for a specified period within which the project must be commenced and, for some categories, completed. Long-gestation and phased projects often need more time than the initial validity allows, and the EIA Notification provides for extension of the validity: but it has to be applied for in time, on a clearance that is in good compliance standing.
KIPL tracks the validity of a client's clearances and prepares extension applications ahead of expiry, backed by the compliance record that an extension is judged on. The point is simple and easy to neglect: a clearance that quietly lapses can stall a live project, and the fix is far harder than the timely extension would have been.

Straight answers
EC Re-validation & Extension: common questions.
01How long is an Environment Clearance valid?
An EC is valid for a period set by the EIA Notification for the project's category: the window within which the project must be commenced, and for some sectors completed. The exact period depends on the project type, which is why tracking each clearance's validity matters.
02Can EC validity be extended?
Yes. The EIA Notification provides for extension of an EC's validity, so long-gestation and phased projects can keep their clearance live. The extension must be applied for before the clearance lapses and is considered against the project's compliance standing.
03What happens if an EC lapses?
A lapsed clearance can stall a live project and is much harder to remedy than a timely extension would have been, potentially requiring a fresh application. That is precisely why we track validity and file for extension ahead of expiry, rather than after.
