The trees around Central Park and along the belt's sector roads were planted when the node was built and are now large enough to shape the streets. Some face new pressures: utility trenches cut through their roots, paving laid up to their trunks, towers whose ramps need the space. We record every tree on a project's plot and frontage early, suggest design changes that keep the good ones, and prepare Tree Authority applications for the rest with honest condition records.
The Central Park belt is the stretch of Kharghar around the large park CIDCO planned at the node's centre, with the golf course beside it and the Kharghar hills rising behind. The park holds lawns, walking tracks, water features and play areas, and on weekends it draws families from all over Navi Mumbai. Residential towers on the surrounding sectors are sold on their view of it. Up the slope, the hills open into grassland dotted with trees, and the Pandavkada falls run down in the monsoon. This is Kharghar's greenest ground, and new buildings here are turned to face it.
How it works
Tree Management, from survey to survival.
- 01/05
Tree enumeration & census
Every tree on site numbered, measured and identified, the defensible count the whole application rests on.
- 02/05
Transplant feasibility
An honest assessment of which trees can be saved by transplantation rather than felled.
- 03/05
Tree Authority NOC
The cutting / transplantation application prepared and pursued through the relevant municipal Tree Authority.
- 04/05
Transplantation
Careful lifting, moving and replanting of feasible trees with root-ball protection.
- 05/05
Post-transplant survival
Monitoring and the survival compliance the authority requires after a transplant.

Tree Management in Central Park belt: common questions.
01The paving around the trees on our road has been laid right up to the trunks. Does that harm them?
Over time, yes. Roots need air and water, and paving to the trunk starves them and makes the tree less stable. A ring of open soil or permeable paving around each trunk helps. The corporation's garden department can be asked to open the pits. We can inspect the trees and draft the request.
02How long does tree management take in Central Park belt?
On timing: census in weeks; NOC by Tree Authority calendar. A realistic Central Park belt schedule is set once the site and the scope have been read, and the work is carried through to the outcome by the same named people.
