Taloja MIDC is the industrial estate itself: a large grid of plots laid out by MIDC below the hills east of Kharghar, holding chemical, pharmaceutical, food, plastics, steel and engineering units. Some are large continuous-process plants; many are mid-sized batch units running reactors, dryers and boilers. The estate's effluent flows by pipe to one collective treatment works, and its hazardous waste is trucked to a shared disposal site close by. The Kasadi river flows through and alongside it. Housing nodes and villages have grown up on its edges, so a unit that once had fields beyond its wall may now face apartment windows.
Taloja MIDC's questions are about what a dense chemical estate releases and whether its shared systems can carry the load. The common effluent plant receives flows from hundreds of units of very different chemistry. The Kasadi river, which takes the estate's treated discharge and runoff, has drawn regulatory and legal attention. Odour and emissions reach the housing now close by, often at night. And plots change hands and processes, carrying past contamination and old consent conditions into new operations.

Taloja MIDC: common questions.
01We want to add one product in our Taloja plant using existing reactors. Do we need a consent amendment?
Very likely. Even with no new equipment, a fresh product can alter raw materials, effluent, stack emissions and waste streams, and the consent lists what the unit is allowed to make. Producing something not listed invites action. We set the new chemistry against the consent and get the amendment filed before production.
02Our six-monthly report shows one groundwater result above the norm. What should we do?
Report it plainly and investigate. Resample to confirm, check whether the source is on your plot or upgradient, and set out what you are doing. An explained exceedance with action behind it is far better than one left unexplained. We investigate the source and help draft the account.
03Our Taloja green belt is an old monoculture. Is it time to start again?
Not all at once. Keep the healthy trees and plant native species between and in front of them, so the belt becomes mixed and layered over a few years. Removing trees can need permission and leaves the plot bare. We survey the belt and set out a phased plan.
04The CETP says our effluent exceeds its inlet limits. Where do we start?
By finding which stream is responsible. Sample each process stream separately: mother liquor, washings, scrubber bleed, utilities blowdown. One high-strength stream often causes most of the problem, and handling it separately fixes the rest. We carry out the stream-by-stream survey and design the fix.
05Why is our Taloja expansion drawing more queries than one elsewhere would?
Because the estate is heavily loaded, committees look at cumulative effects as well as the unit's own. They ask whether the CETP has capacity, what the ambient air shows, and what past complaints were. A strong application answers these directly with data. We prepare it with that in mind.
