Shipping lines and cargo owners using Nhava Sheva are asking terminals and logistics firms for emissions figures: fuel used by cranes and yard vehicles, electricity drawn, emissions per container moved. Some operators are electrifying equipment or adding shore power, and want to show the effect. We meter fuel and power for each class of equipment, compile the inventory, and report it in whichever format each customer asks for.
JNPT / Nhava Sheva means the port and the ground it occupies: the container terminals of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority along the harbour, some run by the port and some by private operators, with liquid-cargo berths, rail sidings, container yards and the port's own township at Sheva. The old villages of Nhava and Sheva gave the port its name, and parts of them remain nearby. A large part of this land was once tidal creek and mudflat, filled to build the port. Trucks and trains serve the terminals around the clock, and the channel is dredged to keep large ships coming in.

ESG Advisory & Reporting in JNPT / Nhava Sheva: common questions.
01One of our shipping-line customers wants emissions per container from our terminal. How do we calculate it?
Add up fuel and electricity used by the terminal's equipment and buildings over a period, convert them to emissions with standard factors, and divide by the containers handled. The method needs to be consistent and documented. We organise the data and the arithmetic and prepare the figure your customer can check.
