Karanja's villages mostly rely on septic tanks and open drains, which empty towards the creek. A small decentralised plant serving a cluster of homes, or intercepting a main drain before it reaches the shore, can do much for the harbour water. It must be simple to run, cope with high groundwater and survive salt air. We size it to measured flow and design it for local operators.
Karanja is at Uran's southern end, where the land reaches the mouth of the creek facing Rewas and the Alibaug coast. It is a fishing place first: boats land their catch at its harbour, and fish drying, ice and net work fill the shore. A ferry crosses from here to Rewas. A naval establishment occupies part of the area, and new port and terminal development has come to the creek. Mangroves line much of the shore, and the villages behind it mix fishing families with farmers and workers who commute to the port.
How it works
Sewage Treatment Plants, the route to grant.
- 01/05
Load & technology selection
Design flow and organic load worked out from occupancy, then the SBR / MBBR / MBR / FAB choice that fits the land, power and reuse target.
- 02/05
Design & DPR
Process design, hydraulics, civil and MEP, and a detailed project report with a defensible cost per KLD.
- 03/05
Build & install (EPC)
Turnkey construction, equipment supply and installation, integrated with the building's plumbing and reuse network.
- 04/05
Commissioning & testing
Seeding, stabilisation and performance testing against the design outlet quality before handover.
- 05/05
Operations & monitoring
O&M with routine sampling and the effluent records that keep the consent and EC compliance defensible.

Sewage Treatment Plants in Karanja: common questions.
01Can a small village have its own sewage plant?
Yes. Compact plants for a few hundred homes exist, and some need little power. The key is a clear owner, often the gram panchayat, and someone trained to run it. We size and design the plant and help set up the operation.
02How long does sewage treatment plants take in Karanja?
On timing: dPR in weeks; build & commissioning by project schedule. A realistic Karanja schedule is set once the site and the scope have been read, and the work is carried through to the outcome by the same named people.
