- Any project with EC or consent EMP conditions
Building near the Kolshet creek edge raises two site risks the EMP must name. Excavated soil from former industrial land may need testing before it leaves, because contaminated spoil cannot be tipped as ordinary fill. And debris, silt and surplus earth must never reach the mangroves, where dumping is both damaging and an offence. We set up a spoil-testing and tracking routine, silt fences along the creek-facing boundary, and trip records that show where every truck went.
Kolshet lies on Thane's northern edge, where Kolshet Road runs from the Ghodbunder side down towards the creek. Much of the land along it was industrial through the later twentieth century; as those units closed or moved away, their plots were redeveloped as some of the largest residential layouts in the city. The result is a neighbourhood of towers and new internal roads beside an older village and a few surviving industrial compounds. Its creek edge is lined with mangroves, mudflats and tidal channels, with Bhiwandi across the water, and parts of that edge have been opened to the public as waterfront.

Environment Management & Mitigation Plan in Kolshet: common questions.
01A contractor has offered to take our excavated earth away for free. Is that a problem?
It can be. If the earth ends up as fill on creek-side land or over mangroves, the project that produced it can be drawn into the case. Ask where it is going, get the destination in writing, and keep trip records to an approved site. We build that tracking into the EMP so the site can always show where its spoil went.
02How long does environment management & mitigation plan take in Kolshet?
On timing: prepared at EIA; implemented for project life. A realistic Kolshet schedule is set once the site and the scope have been read, and the work is carried through to the outcome by the same named people.
