Navade's nalas carry household sewage, workshop runoff and, in the monsoon, water off industrial plots, towards the Kasadi. The first steps are local ones: screens that catch floating waste, diverting the dry-season sewage flow to treatment, and tracking down unauthorised pipes from industrial plots. Bank planting follows where there is room. Together with the ward staff and MIDC, we map every outfall, then set out work that can be done in stages.
Navade lies on the western side of the Taloja estate, between Kalamboli and Kharghar, around the village of the same name and the Navade Road station on the rail line from Panvel towards Diva. CIDCO developed a small node here of plots and residential buildings, and the estate's industrial plots meet it along its eastern edge. Warehouses, small workshops and service units fill the ground in between. It is a place where families live, and where the estate's trucks and smells are close by. Many of its residents work in the estate, in Kalamboli's yards or further along the rail line.
