Belapur's sectors carry trees planted by CIDCO along roads and in compounds, and its hill slopes carry older ones that also hold the soil in place. New buildings, road works and metro structures reach many of them. Removing or relocating one requires the civic tree authority's sanction. On a slope, the question is also what the roots are doing. We census the trees, flag those whose removal would loosen the ground, and plan retention, moves and replanting with the slope in mind.

CBD Belapur was planned as Navi Mumbai's administrative centre. CIDCO's own offices are here, along with the municipal corporation's headquarters and state government buildings, among banks, corporate offices and housing sectors. The node climbs the foot of Parsik hill, with a restored fort on a hilltop and the creek below on its western side. Navi Mumbai's metro starts here and runs east towards Pendhar. Some early office blocks are being replaced by taller ones, and new towers are rising on the hill sectors. A government town is slowly becoming a business district too.
