Green Building Certification in Vashi, Navi Mumbai.
Green Building Certification for Vashi: read against this area's own ground, not the city's average.
Why Vashi
The ground this work sits on here.
- Area
- Vashi, Navi Mumbai
- Practice
- Environmental and Advisory Services
- Typically for
- Buildings, campuses and townships seeking a green rating
Redevelopment gives Vashi a rare chance to rebuild better than the 1970s blocks it replaces, and the households who will meet the electricity and water charges have the most at stake. A residential rating nudges the architect towards shaded windows, frugal taps and fans, harvested rain and recycled STP water. Vashi's commercial buildings can be rated on how they run today. We check the design against the chosen rating before the developer's drawings are fixed, when the cheapest gains are still open.
Vashi was the first CIDCO node to be settled, at the Navi Mumbai end of the road bridge over Thane Creek, and it is still the city's busiest centre. Its sectors hold low-rise CIDCO housing put up in the seventies and eighties, much of it now due for rebuilding, alongside newer towers, malls, hospitals and the offices clustered around the railway station. The APMC wholesale markets, which moved here from south Mumbai in stages, trade produce, grain, spices and flowers for the whole region every night. Mangroves line the creek on its western side. Half a century on, Vashi is being rebuilt from within.

Green Building Certification in Vashi: common questions.
01Can our society ask the developer to build to a green rating?
Yes, and the development agreement is where to do it. A clause naming the rating and level turns a hope into an obligation the developer has to meet. We can suggest a level that is realistic for the plot and review the developer's design against it as the drawings progress.
02How long does green building certification take in Vashi?
On timing: runs alongside design & construction. A realistic Vashi schedule is set once the site and the scope have been read, and the work is carried through to the outcome by the same named people.
