- Industrial units, estates, MIDC plots, chemical and manufacturing sites
Green-belt conditions on Turbhe plots meet unforgiving ground: a skin of soil over rock towards the hills, rammed fill near the road, and dust settling everywhere. Saplings dropped straight into it rarely last. We count the survivors in the existing belt, dig pits and trenches and fill them with good earth, and plant hardy, pollution-tolerant natives thickly on the edges that face the settlements and the highway, where a screen helps most. MPCB counts living trees, so we record the survival count every year.
Turbhe marks the southern tail of the TTC belt, where chemical works, engineering shops and warehouses fill the ground from the highway back to where the Parsik range rises. The name also covers a busy transport hub: a truck terminal, a station on the Trans-Harbour line, and dense settlements that have grown up on the hill slopes and around old quarries. The municipal landfill lies nearby. Vashi's and Sanpada's housing sectors begin just across the road. Few parts of Navi Mumbai are more industrial, or more crowded, and lorries fill its roads at most hours.
How it works
Green Belt Development for Industries, from survey to survival.
- 01/04
Condition & buffer planning
The EC and consent green-cover conditions read, and a buffer plan sized and structured to meet them on the available plot.
- 02/04
Species selection
Pollution- and dust-tolerant native species chosen for attenuation, screening and survival at an industrial boundary.
- 03/04
Planting & establishment
Multi-row planting and the establishment care a buffer needs to close its canopy.
- 04/04
Compliance records
Documentation of the green cover developed and maintained, for the post-EC compliance file.

Green Belt Development for Industries in Turbhe: common questions.
01Our plot is almost fully built over. How do we satisfy the green-belt clause?
Use every strip that remains (boundaries, setbacks, parking edges) and plant them densely. Where the ground is genuinely too short, record the shortfall honestly and discuss options with MPCB rather than hoping it passes unnoticed. We map the available space and design planting that makes every metre count.
02How long does green belt development for industries take in Turbhe?
On timing: planting seasonal; establishment 2–3 years. A realistic Turbhe schedule is set once the site and the scope have been read, and the work is carried through to the outcome by the same named people.
