An ETP in Wagle Estate has to fit where there is no room for one. Units run from galas and tight plots, flows are small and uneven (a batch wash one day, almost nothing the next) and treated water leaves through drains the estate shares. We size for the real pattern, with an equalisation tank rather than a nominal daily figure, choose compact packaged units that fit a ground-floor bay or a yard corner, and set up a simple log of flow, dosing and sludge sent for disposal.
Wagle Estate is a grid of numbered roads in Thane West, lined with sheds, galas and multi-storey industrial buildings, with the Yeoor hills rising behind. Its units are mostly small and medium (engineering shops, packaging converters, pharmaceutical and chemical formulators) and many share one building, one yard and one drain. Over the years some plots have been rebuilt as IT parks and office blocks, so a machine shop may now stand beside a floor of desks. Dense housing and settlements have grown up along its edges and up the lower slopes, and people now live within a wall's width of working units. The estate is changing tenant by tenant rather than all at once.
How it works
Effluent Treatment Plants, the route to grant.
- 01/05
Effluent characterisation
The real waste stream sampled and analysed (flow, pH, COD / BOD, TDS, colour and specific contaminants) before a single unit is sized.
- 02/05
Process design
Primary (equalisation, neutralisation), secondary (biological) and tertiary (filtration, RO) stages engineered to the consent outlet quality.
- 03/05
ZLD engineering (where required)
RO and multiple-effect evaporator / ATFD trains to recover water and reach zero discharge for the specified categories.
- 04/05
Build & commissioning (EPC)
Turnkey construction, dosing and control systems, then stabilisation and performance testing.
- 05/05
Monitoring & compliance
Effluent-quality monitoring and the records that keep the CTO and any online-monitoring obligation in good standing.

Effluent Treatment Plants in Wagle Estate MIDC: common questions.
01Our wash water is only a few hundred litres a day. Do we really need an ETP?
If it carries process chemicals, yes, in some form. MPCB's discharge standards apply whatever the volume, and consent conditions usually require treatment before discharge. At that scale the answer may be a small batch system, or collection and disposal through an authorised agency, rather than a continuous plant. We test the water first and size the solution to it.
02How long does effluent treatment plants take in Wagle Estate MIDC?
On timing: design to commissioning by project schedule. A realistic Wagle Estate MIDC schedule is set once the site and the scope have been read, and the work is carried through to the outcome by the same named people.
