Where a Ghodbunder Road tower goes down into basements rather than up into a podium, excavation meets water that the hill-side ground holds through and after the monsoon. Pumping it out is dewatering, and under the CGWA's guidelines that needs a groundwater NOC, applied for on the Bhuneer portal. So does a borewell the finished layout draws on to top up municipal and tanker supply. We prepare the hydrogeological report, estimate the volume honestly, and set up the metering and recharge the NOC will ask for.
Ghodbunder Road runs north-west from Majiwada to Gaimukh, where it climbs through the ghat towards Mira-Bhayandar and the Western Express Highway. For much of its length the hills of Sanjay Gandhi National Park rise on one side, and the land falls away on the other towards the creek and its mangroves. Between the two, farmland and village land have become towers and gated townships, Manpada, Waghbil and Owale are now names of residential neighbourhoods as much as villages. The Metro Line 4 viaduct runs along the road, and service roads, flyovers and widening have followed it. The corridor is still filling in.

CGWA Groundwater NOC in Ghodbunder Road: common questions.
01We only pump out water while digging the basement. Do we still need a NOC?
Generally yes. Construction dewatering is treated as abstraction under the guidelines even when it is temporary, and the NOC sets conditions on how the water is used or discharged. Much of what is pumped out can go to curing, dust suppression and wheel washing rather than straight to the drain. We prepare the application and a plan for where the water goes.
02How long does cgwa groundwater noc take in Ghodbunder Road?
On timing: weeks to a few months, block-status dependent. A realistic Ghodbunder Road schedule is set once the site and the scope have been read, and the work is carried through to the outcome by the same named people.
