Kashimira plots below the park often hold mature trees, and some share a boundary with forest land. On private land, MBMC's tree officers must approve felling or relocation; trees on forest land are governed separately, by the forest department. We number and record every tree, check the land records for the boundary, file the application, and handle any moves and replacement planting that follow.
Kashimira lies at the city's eastern edge, beside the Western Express Highway where the roads into Mira Road branch off. Its highway frontage is lined with hotels, restaurants, banquet halls, showrooms and fuel stations that serve passing traffic, with housing complexes and older settlements behind them. Eastward rise the wooded slopes of the Sanjay Gandhi park; the ground between road and slope has been built on steadily over the years, leaving patches of scrub and woodland among the new blocks. Metro and road works have added further construction and traffic.

Tree Management in Kashimira: common questions.
01Our plot borders the forest. Can we clear trees along the boundary?
Only with permission, and only trees standing on your own land. Trees standing on forest land are the forest department's responsibility, and cutting them is a serious offence. We survey the boundary with the land records, tag the trees on it and advise what may be done, and by whom.
02How long does tree management take in Kashimira?
On timing: census in weeks; NOC by Tree Authority calendar. A realistic Kashimira schedule is set once the site and the scope have been read, and the work is carried through to the outcome by the same named people.
