A 130 KLD sewage treatment plant for Satyam Developers at Ghansoli, treating the development's sewage on MBBR: the same site also runs a 350 kg/day stainless-steel organic waste converter.
The brief
A residential development has to treat its own sewage before it discharges, and it has to do it inside the footprint it already has. Ghansoli was sized at 130 KLD, which is what the development produces, not a round number chosen upward.
MBBR is the process. Moving bed biofilm reactor: the biology grows on carriers kept in suspension, so the treatment capacity sits in the media rather than in tank volume, and the plant occupies less ground than a conventional activated-sludge train of the same duty.
The same development also carries a 350 kg/day stainless-steel organic waste converter, so its sewage and its biodegradable waste are both handled where they are produced rather than leaving the site.
