Roughly ten thousand square metres at Kalamboli Sector 2, developed as a single landscaped recreational space: a play area, walkways, a gazebo and utility spaces, finished with horticulture, flowerbeds and landscape lighting.
The brief
A sector-level open space has to do several jobs at once, somewhere for children to play, a route to walk, shade to sit in. And it has to keep doing them for years on municipal maintenance rather than a private budget.
The mandate covered the whole of it: the play area, the walkways, a gazebo and the utility spaces, with the horticulture, flowerbeds and landscape lighting that turn a cleared plot into somewhere people choose to be.

What KIPL executed
- Play area
- The children's play provision within the space.
- Walkways
- The circulation that makes the space usable as a route as well as a destination.
- Gazebo and utility spaces
- Shade, and the service provision the space needs to function.
- Horticulture and flowerbeds
- The planting, laid out as part of the landscape rather than added to it.
- Landscape lighting
- Lighting across the development, which is what extends its usable hours.
