Five kilometres of water supply works for the K Raheja project at Malad, Mumbai: intake, pipeline and pumping infrastructure.
The brief
Water supply is a chain, and it is only as good as its weakest link: an intake that silts, a main that leaks, or a pump sized for a head it does not actually face will each defeat the rest of the system.
Laying five kilometres of main through a built-up part of Mumbai is a sequencing problem as much as a hydraulic one: the route has to be taken through existing development, existing services and live traffic.
What KIPL executed
- Intake
- The abstraction arrangement at the source.
- Pipeline
- 5 km of water supply main.
- Pumping infrastructure
- The pumping installations serving the main.
