An 18 KLD effluent treatment plant for AkzoNobel at Koparkhairne: a conventional treatment process in MS-fabricated construction, sized to a works whose effluent is small in volume and particular in content.

The brief

A small industrial effluent stream is not a small problem. Eighteen kilolitres a day from a coatings works carries a load that has to be treated to consent before discharge, and the plant has to fit a site that was not laid out with one in mind.

MS-fabricated construction answers that second constraint: the plant is built as fabricated steel tankage rather than cast in civil works, which makes it quicker to install, possible to position where the space actually is, and removable if the works are reconfigured.

What KIPL executed
