Why Bandra-Kurla Complex
The ground this work sits on here.

- Typically for
- Any project with EC or consent EMP conditions
Construction in BKC happens beside occupied offices, busy roads and a riverbank, often all three. Deep basements on reclaimed ground need continuous dewatering, and that water carries silt that must not reach the Mithi or the storm drains. Piling and excavation run close to buildings full of people. The EMP here is mostly about sequence (where trucks queue, when noisy work happens, how pumped water is settled) and it holds only when every control is pinned to a named supervisor.
The Bandra-Kurla Complex was laid out by MMRDA on low, marshy ground between the Mithi River and Mahim Creek, and it still sits with water on two sides. Over four decades it has filled with bank headquarters, the stock exchange, consulates, a convention centre and hotels, set on wide plots with podium parking below. Few people live here; tens of thousands arrive each weekday by road, suburban rail and now the metro. Underground works for the high-speed rail terminus and fresh towers rising on the last vacant plots keep parts of the district under construction. MMRDA, not the municipal corporation, plans it.

Environment Management & Mitigation Plan in Bandra-Kurla Complex: common questions.
01Where can we discharge dewatering water from a BKC basement excavation?
Not straight into a drain or the river while it is laden with silt. It should pass through settling tanks first, and where it may go, and how clean it must be, usually follow from the EC conditions and MCGM's permission. We size the settling arrangement to the pumping rate, sample what leaves, and log what the half-yearly report will ask for.
02How long does environment management & mitigation plan take in Bandra-Kurla Complex?
On timing: prepared at EIA; implemented for project life. A realistic Bandra-Kurla Complex schedule is set once the site and the scope have been read, and the work is carried through to the outcome by the same named people.
