Groundwater in Khalapur sits in fractured basalt, and wells that yield well in October can run low by May. Factories, resorts and bungalow colonies drilling borewells draw on the same fractures as the villages around them. A plant or resort using groundwater must hold a CGWA NOC, which brings meters and recharge duties. We study how water moves through the rock there, put a figure on what the aquifer can safely give, and set up recharge structures and records the renewal will ask for.
Khalapur is the taluka east of Panvel, through which the expressway to Pune and the old highway climb towards Khopoli and the Sahyadri ghat. It lies outside the municipal corporation and is a different kind of place from the CIDCO nodes. Factories and warehouses stand along the highways and around Khopoli, some of them large process plants; between them are farmland, villages, weekend homes, resorts and a theme park. The Patalganga river runs through the taluka, and forested hills rise on its eastern and southern sides. Land here is still being converted from farm to industry and leisure.

CGWA Groundwater NOC in Khalapur: common questions.
01Our borewell in Khalapur gives less water each summer. Will recharge help?
It can, if water is fed to the ground where the basalt can take it. Roof water led into recharge pits or wells, and check dams on streams nearby, raise summer levels over time. Pumping less helps as much. We study the site and the well before recommending where recharge should go.
02How long does cgwa groundwater noc take in Khalapur?
On timing: weeks to a few months, block-status dependent. A realistic Khalapur schedule is set once the site and the scope have been read, and the work is carried through to the outcome by the same named people.
